A Kangaroo Flat Community Enterprise newsletter, Flat Matters is published from February to December each year to enable local businesses, clubs, groups and organisations to get their message out into the local community. Articles and advertisements received by the 20th of each month in the following month’s Flat Matters which is distributed the first week of each month to subscribers, social media and web and local outlets.

A lot has changed for the Loddon Mallee Public Health Unit (LMPHU) since it was
stood up to combat COVID four years ago.
The team has taken on new roles in prevention, broader scope of communicable diseases, environmental health and emergency management while guiding the Loddon Mallee through outbreaks and more.

🚦 Making Local Roads Safer 🚦
Exciting news for Kangaroo Flat! New pedestrian-operated traffic lights and a raised safety platform will soon be installed on Lockwood Road, making it safer for students at Bendigo Special Development School and pedestrians crossing this busy road.
This much needed upgrade will also benefit all the locals heading to the Kangaroo Flat Library and those walking along the Bendigo Creek Trail 🌳📚
Funded through the Safe System Pedestrian Infrastructure program, this is one of 30 projects across the state aimed at improving road safety as part of Victoria's Road Safety Strategy 2021-2030.
A big thank you to the community members who helped bring attention to this project! 👏

Nahan Diss at Property Plus Real Estate talks with Flat Matters in a real estate wrap for the region.
He advises that the Kangaroo Flat region property market is quite stable at the present time with good signs for tenants, sellers and investors.
"As we take a snapshot for the month of July 2024, we saw there were 28 properties
available for rent, and there were 84 properties for sale."

Schools across our region are looking forward to welcoming many new students for the 2025 school year.
The growth across our region in recent times has seen many new families take up residence and consequently the numbers are looking strong for the 2025 Education Year.
Crusoe College in Kangaroo Flat along with Marist College in Maiden Gully are by far the two biggest schools in our region whilst at the other end of the spectre, Lockwood South Primary School will have 33 students next year.
